Qatargas and Qatar Charity officials shake hands after a donation presentation
Qatargas has made a donation to Qatar Charity to support its efforts to assist famine victims in Somalia.
A cheque for the donated amount, which included funds raised at the 13th Golf Open, apart from an additional Qatargas contribution, was handed over by Mansour Rashid al-Naimi, public relations manager, Qatargas, to Ghanim Jaber al-Kubaisi, public relations and fund raising director at Qatar Charity.
Speaking on the move, al-Naimi said: “Qatargas is pleased to support this great cause and extend a helping hand to the people of Somalia at a critical time there. It’s been a legacy for Qatargas to support communities around the world who need immediate assistance. I thank the Qatargas management and all those players and spectators who have come forward to donate generously for this significant cause which will go a long way in taking some burden off the Somalian people. Qatargas is glad to be able to support various activities of Qatar Charity as part of the company’s Corporate Citizenship philosophy that seeks to achieve social development of communities.”
Qatargas had recently held its annual Golf Open this year at the Doha Golf Club, which attracted many professional and amateur players as well as several visitors. Proceeds from the two days’ charity sale at the tournament, plus an additional contribution from Qatargas, have gone to Qatar
Charity.
Commenting on the support from Qatargas, al-Kubaisi said: “We are thankful to Qatargas for their continuous interest in activities of Qatar Charity and their constant support for our projects and initiatives. We value this support very much as a true model for the corporate world to follow and hope that more organisations would come forward to support us or rather enable us to support people around the world. Our commitment is to help create a better life for all hapless people around the world.”
