Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Charity (QC) has organised a number of workshops for student teams taking part in the “Rofaqa” competition, aimed at improving their skills in community outreach work.
The two organisations conducted the workshops on the sidelines of their first meeting with the participants recently, as QU and QC focuses on achieving their target to sponsor 200 orphans for a year.
Ali al-Gharib, executive director of QC’s executive management for local operations, said that they organised the workshops to prepare the teams by improving students’ capabilities, providing them with the required skills, motivating them to participate in community work, and highlighting the issue of orphans and their suffering around the world.
“It is necessary for students to have knowledge on marketing techniques and strategies to carry out community work and serve humanity around the world,” al-Gharib stressed.
At the meeting, QC’s International Co-operation Department manager Nasser al-Mogaiseeb discussed how to manage and maintain a successful community team to achieve its goals.
He said this requires acquiring a range of skills, including follow-up, creativity, and stimulating a positive competition.
QC’s e-marketing manager Akram al-Odini said that the world has largely gone digital, with most companies preferring digital over traditional marketing.
“This provides easy and quick access to the digital world and will meet their advertising and marketing needs at a low cost,” he noted.
Al-Odini added that QC has significant experience in the field of e-marketing at the local, regional and international levels, as charity uses many e-marketing tools.
Apart from Rofaqa, QC and QU also involved social media influencers to get support and publicise the initiative, and organise events and activities to achieve their target.
Social media influencers included Adel Lamy, Saud al-Maa’adid, and Asma al-Hammadi.
The judging committee formed by QC and QU will meet in the first week of May to select the winners.
Sponsoring more than 120,000 orphans worldwide, QC has become the largest orphan care organisation in the world.
