The cloudy spell is likely to continue in the country until Friday along with chances of scattered rain, which may become thundery at times, the Qatar Met department has said.

Marine warnings for thundershowers, windy conditions and high seas will also be in effect during this period due to “unsettled weather conditions”, according to the forecast.

A report issued by the Met department says the country is “affected by an upper-level trough of low pressure” which is centred over the northern Arabian Peninsula. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected at times and this will continue until early Friday.

There is a possibility of scattered light to moderate rain, which may become thundery occasionally and will be accompanied by strong winds in some areas.

The wind speed may go up to 30 knots offshore and 25 knots inshore during thundershowers on Thursday, with the sea level rising to 8ft. Slight dust is also expected on thursday.

The Thursday temperature is expected to range from 25-34C in Doha.
