Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced that the new season 2018-2019 will start on August 3 and will be preceded by Super Cup, which will be held between the winners of Qatar Cup and HH the Amir Cup on August 1.
QFA also said that the second division season will kick off on September 19, while Qatargas U23 League will start on September 4.
The start of the season comes early in order to give the Qatari national football team the opportunity to prepare for the next year’s entitlements, which will start with Asian Championship from January 5 – February 1 in the UAE. Qatar will also participate in Copa America in Brazil in June 2019, first time that an Arab national team will participate in this tournament.
The current season will conclude with HH the Amir Cup final between Al Duhail and Al Rayyan on Saturday evening at Khalifa International Stadium.
