Subhash and Hadi dished out fine all-round performances to help their teams get winning starts in the Ramadan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Qatar Cricket Association, on Saturday.
Twenty teams from the B and C divisions have been clubbed and divided into four groups for this tournament by the QCA to keep local players in touch with competitive cricket.
At the Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Gladiators crushed Pak Falcons by 10 wickets as Subhash pocketed two wickets and struck 45 not out off 33 balls with eight fours while chasing a modest 83-run target. Syed was also unbeaten with 30 in 25 balls, including five boundaries.
Hadi chipped in 30, which came off 15 balls with three sixes and a four, and followed it up with an impressive three-wicket haul to lift Commercial Bank Qatar Blue to a 27-run victory against Qatar Super Kings in another match.
Batting first, CBQ-B posted a challenging 149 for seven in 18 overs. Moazzam (33 in 36 balls) and Kaleem (25 in 17 balls, a six and two fours) were the other main scorers. QSK could manage only 122 for nine, with Benin hitting a six and five fours in his 40 (31 balls). Tony Archer gave a good account of himself as he hit 23 off 25 balls after picking three wickets for 20.
Kumar Thapa, on the opening day, turned in a superb bowling performance and his five-wicket haul set up a fine six-wicket triumph for Al Noof against CNAQ.
