Young Qatari professionals who took part in the QLC programme
The Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) has successfully presented the inaugural module of its Current and Future Leaders Programme as a select group of young Qatari professionals concluded a three-day customised series of sessions focused on the transformation of organisations in an uncertain world.
This component of the 18-month programme was presented by Prof Marvin Zonis of the Booth School of the University of Chicago.
“We are pleased that the first QLC programme has made such a positive beginning and that the programme has been well received by the first class of participants,” QLC’s executive director and board member of the Centre Dr Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani said, adding: “As a special initiative of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad
al-Thani, who is the QLC chairman, the centre is positioned to play a significant role in helping promising young Qatari men and women to further develop their high-level leadership skills. This will enable them to better serve Qatar in many important areas in the future.”
He mentioned that many young Qataris of exceptional talent applied for the programme, which showed the strong interest and the need for such a programme. “We are proud of the range and depth of the Qatari leadership pool and of their capacity to play a role in the development of our nation as time goes on,” Dr al-Thani added.
The next component of the programme being presented this week is by Harvard Business School.
QLC will soon roll out another leadership development training programme aimed at mid-career professionals between the ages of 36-45 from across the public and private sector and the process will be announced through a print and online advertising campaign.
Interested candidates can apply through self-nomination online via the QLC website.
QLC is being managed by a board of directors headed by its chairman HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and vice chairperson HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani.
Other QLC board members include Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, Minister of Public Health and Supreme Council of Health Secretary General HE Abdullah bin Khalid al-Qahtani and Ministry of Business and Trade undersecretary Sultan Rashid al-Khater.
