Firefighters from across the GCC will compete in Dubai this month

A firefighting and emergency rescue unit from Qatar Civil Defence will test their skills against top-rated firemen and rescue personnel from the GCC and other countries at the upcoming third UAE International FireFit championships being held in Dubai from January 15-17.
The hand-picked squad from Qatar will make up four teams that will participate for the first time in the championships, which will be held alongside Intersec, the region’s leading trade event in the security, safety and protection industries, taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Organised jointly by 911 Firefighting and FireFit of Canada, the popular championships will feature more than 100 firefighters and emergency rescue personnel competing against each other in tests of skills and endurance.
“The championships have proven immensely popular from the very inception,” Mohammed al-Ahmadi, general manager of 911 Firefighting, said.
