Qatar Foundation and RasGas last Saturday played a friendly cricket match in a bid to promote healthy living.
It was for the for the first time that the health, safety, security and environment directorate (HSSE) at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) played a friendly cricket match between its team and RasGas at the Al-Khor community.
RasGas emerged winner in the keenly fought contest, thanks in part to a man-of-the-match performance from their captain, Amir Khan.
It is hoped that this game will be the first of many, as Qatar Foundation’s HSSE focuses on promoting healthy lifestyles among the QF employees and their families. Recently, in accordance with the Emiri Decree No. 80 for 2011, the HSSE has played particular attention to sports as a means of promoting a healthier lifestyle.
“Sports like cricket are popular and bring many benefits to players. Not only do people get a good workout, but they also get to socialise, make friends, and most importantly, have fun,” said Abdulla al-Modhaki, the chairman of the QF cricket committee and director of the health, safety, security and environment directorate at QF.
