The Ramada Plaza Doha will be converted to a Radisson Blu in Q3 2012, it was announced yesterday.
This will mark the Qatar debut of the Brussels-based Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide.
Radisson Blu is Rezidor’s core brand in the upper upscale market segment - offering contemporary architecture and design, unique signature service concepts and engaging service philosophy ‘Yes I Can!’
Rezidor’s president and chief executive officer Kurt Ritter expressed delight to add the landmark hotel to his group’s constantly growing Middle East portfolio where it currently has 29 Radisson Blu hotels in operation and under development.
“The property will undergo an $18mn renovation and become even more attractive and competitive,” he said.
Gordon MacKenzie, general manager, Ramada Plaza Doha, said: “Although we are slightly sad to be leaving the Ramada family, we feel that joining the Radisson Blu brand will continue to enhance our services and open new avenues for international business. This is an extremely exciting time for us.”
It is one of the largest hotels in Doha and offers 583 modern, spacious rooms and suites in different styles. Food and beverage outlets include six bars and 12 restaurants.
