HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Silatech, presided over Silatech’s sixth annual meeting which was held in Tunis yesterday morning.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the institution’s regional achievements last year and discussed its strategies and partnerships to deal with challenges facing the employment of young people in 2012-2013.
Later, HH Sheikha Moza witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Silatech and Tunisian telecommunications company, Tunisiana, to provide unemployed young people with a platform to learn about job vacancies through SMS to their mobile phones.
The agreement was signed by Silatech chief executive officer Tariq Yousef and Tunisiana assistant executive officer Marchil Karate.
Silatech is a social enterprise founded in January 2008 by HH Sheikha Moza with broad support from other regional and international leaders in the field of economic development and youth civil engagement to address the critical and growing need to create job opportunities for young people.
Silatech has successfully managed to provide about 25,000 job opportunities for young people in a number of Arab countries since launching its programmes in 2009.
