Al-Musallam and al-Obaidly signing a memorandum of understanding at the police headquarters in Doha

The Juvenile Police Department (JPD) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Foundation for Child and Woman Protection (QFCW). The MoU aims at enhancing co-operation between both parties to ensure inclusive protection for child from violence and abuse.
Nasser Abdul Azeez al-Musallam, Director Brigadier of JPD, and Prof. Faridah al-Obaidly, director general of QFCW, signed the MoU.
Brigadier al-Musallam said: “The MoU will augment the co-operation and co-ordination between the Juvenile Police and QFCW in protecting children from violence and abuse, as it is one of the priorities for the
both side.”
He added that the MoU came as an initiative of the Ministry of Interior for its faith in the rights of children and importance of working on the application and dissemination of the culture of social protection and care for all children.
The MoU also aims at conducting studies in the field of early detection of delinquency and exposure to it, and abuse in all its forms. It calls for the preparation of plans that seek to prevent the escalation of violence and child abuse.
Prof Faridah al-Obaidly said that protection of children from violence, exploitation and abuse is an integral component in maintaining their rights guaranteed by the constitution and Islamic law. “QFCW seeks co-operation with all stakeholders to strengthen this protection,” said Prof al-Obaidly.
Al-Obaidly added: “The MoU aims at achieving partnership between the ministry and the foundation in order to develop joint care programmes for the protection and rehabilitation of children who are victims of violence, abuse and delinquency, and to restore their confidence to integrate them into their families and communities.”
