Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and Security of East Timor Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao visited Barwa Group to discuss co-operation and investment in real estate, the  group announced yesterday.
Barwa chairman Hitmi Ali Khalifa al-Hitmi expressed his pleasure at Gusmao’s visit to the Barwa Group’s offices where the latter was briefed on the company’s achievements.
Al-Hitmi called for enhanced co-operation between the two sides, the statement added.
For his part, the Timorese PM expressed his pleasure at visiting Barwa adding that the group is a role model for successful businesses all over the world.
Barwa is one of the pioneering real estate and investment companies in Qatar.
The company aspires to contribute to achieving renaissance, sustainable development and building a bright future for Qatar through investing in businesses, services, and local and global expertise alike.
Since its foundation in 2005, Barwa has grown rapidly to add 21 sister companies in five sectors, namely: local real estate sector, international real estate sector, infrastructure investment sector, business services sector and the services and financial investment sector. 
Separately, a delegation representing Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI) yesterday met East Timor’s Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of bolstering economic co-operation and increasing investments between businessmen from the two countries, in addition to the possibility of creating infrastructure, agricultural and tourism partnerships. 
Gusmao and his accompanying delegation left Doha yesterday evening wrapping up a several days’ official visit to Qatar.
The East Timorese prime minister was seen off at Doha International Airport by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed Saleh al-Sada and Chief of HE the Prime Minister’s Protocols Ahmed Jassim al-Mulla.
