Doha Bank CEO R Seetharaman being honoured by QTS officials at the Pongal celebration

Qatar Tamizhar Sangham (QTS) recently held an event at Doha Cinema to coincide with Pongal, the Tamil harvest festival.
The event was attended by a sizeable gathering of Tamil speaking residents of Qatar.
One of the main highlights of the event was Patti Mandram, a literary debate, popular among community members worldwide. Some of the acclaimed speakers from Tamil Nadu enthralled the audience.
Mohan of Sun TV fame anchored the literary debate, which was chaired by veteran Solomon Pappiah.
The celebrations commenced with the lighting of traditional lamps by the event organisers.
Mohan of Kalyanamalai (Sun TV) has promised to telecast the event on Sun TV shortly. Kalyanamalai is a programme introducing prospective brides and grooms on television. Meera Nagarajan revealed to the audience about the activities of Kalyanamalai and its impressive record of finalising marriages.
Papaiya led the debate on the topic “the dreams of young Indians going abroad for greener pastures.”
Raja, Bharathi Baskar, Shivakumar, Essaki Raja, Srinivasan and Sowmia debated on the topic. The arguments and the counter arguments turned out to be impressive with crowds cheering the participants at intervals.
QTS general secretary Srinivasan introduced the guests and cultural secretary Varadarajan welcomed the gathering.
QTS president ADKB Charles and CEO of Doha Bank R Seetharaman addressed the gathering. Script writer and comedian S V Shekar was greeted with thunderous applause by the audience on his arrival. K Alagiri, Member of Parliament from Cuddalore graced the occasion.
