The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday launched its 2018-2022 strategy to enhance the concept of security and stability and ensure Qatar continues to achieve progress.
The new strategy is based on the principle of remarkable decline in the crime rate and increasing the degree of security and stability, especially in view of the enormous technological developments and environmental changes experienced across the world.
The new strategy was announced by MoI's Planning and Quality Department director Brigadier Abdul Rahman Majid al-Sulaiti.
General Directorate of the Public Security assistant director general Brigadier Nasser Jaber al-Nuaimi and several other senior MoI officials were present.
While recalling the achievements of the security and safety strategies in 2011-2016, the MoI official hoped the new strategy would effectively meet the requirements during 2018-2022, assigned to the Ministry of Interior in the National Development Strategy, in line with the goals and objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The strategy visualises the MoI as the leader at the regional and international levels in its area of activities. Its mission is to achieve stability, security and performance excellence while its core objective is to contribute to a secure FIFA 2022 World Cup.
The strategy assists various departments of the MoI in transforming their strategic objectives into plans, programmes and projects and putting them into practice, following up and ensuring their implementation as planned. It is also compatible with the Gulf, Arab and international environmental changes and their impacts on the security system.
The whole mission focuses on achieving continuous improvement and development of all departments of the ministry through the application of modern systems in management and advanced technology that help to provide good service and achieve security and stability. The strategy also includes 27 programmes and projects for implementation in the coming years.
The 10 objectives of the strategy are to achieve stable security and reduce crime rates, protect life and property and quick response to the requirements of residents, protect the society from drugs, achieve safety on roads and reduce road traffic fatalities, develop a national electronic security shield, develop human skills and capabilities, optimise the utilisation of financial and technical resources, strengthen relations with the community, raise the efficiency in protecting the coastal areas of the country and lastly protecting and securing vital facilities.
