A senior official from India’s Ministry of External Affairs is visiting Doha to hold Foreign Office Consultations Sunday, Indian embassy announced Friday.

This is the first visit of T S Tirumurti, Secretary (ER) to Doha since he assumed charge in February. Secretary Tirumurti will be accompanied by a two-member delegation from the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
This is the third round of political consultations between the two countries and the first one to be held in Qatar. The consultations follow the visit of HE Dr Ahmed Hassan al-Hammadi, Secretary-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar, to India in April, during which he held extensive discussions with Secretary Tirumurti and also called on Minister of State for External Affairs General (retd) V K Singh.
During the consultations in Doha, the two sides will take stock of their overall relations and explore ways and means to enhance them. These consultations are a key institutional mechanism to review state of bilateral relations from time to time.
