The first Qatar Visa Centre (QVC) in India was opened on Wednesday in the capital, New Delhi, in the presence of officials from both Qatar and India, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) tweeted.

Six more centres will be opened in India in the coming days in the cities of Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi. Previously, QVCs were opened in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The QVCs will simplify and accelerate work visa procedures for expatriates coming from these countries and enable them to complete fingerprint and biometric data processing, medical checkup and employment contract signing in their home countries, the MoI said.
