*GCC legislative meeting a good sign, says Kuwait speaker
Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Ali al- Ghanim said the convening of the 12th meeting of heads of GCC parliaments and Shura councils in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, represents a good sign and a ground for optimism for all Gulf peoples that the Gulf crisis is nearing a conclusion.
In a statement carried by Kuwait News Agency (Kuna), al-Ghanim said the most important achievement is that the heads of all legislative bodies of the GCC member states took part in Thursday's meeting, pointing out that the meeting stressed GCC solidarity and co-ordination among GCC parliaments in all Arab, regional and international forums.
Al-Ghanim said all the participants in the meeting rejected any recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, noting that it was agreed between the heads of the six parliaments to raise this issue at the next meeting of the IPU in Doha, and issue a joint statement in this regard.
He said top lawmakers affirmed that the Golan Heights is an indivisible part of Syria, and US' recognition will affect peace in the region.
The Kuwaiti Assembly speaker said it was also agreed to hold another meeting in Oman, the topic of which will be chosen in co-ordination between the heads of parliaments of the six countries and general secretaries.
Qatar's delegation to the meeting in Jeddah was headed by HE the Speaker of Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.
The final communique of the meeting emphasised a number of decisions taken by the participants regarding the topics on the meeting's agenda, most importantly the recommendations of the symposium on "Localisation of Jobs and Investment in Human Resources of the GCC States".
