There are preliminary indications of chances of rain in the country over the weekend, the Qatar Met department tweeted on Thursday.

A summary of the forecast for the weekend says thundery rain is expected in Qatar from Saturday evening, while offshore areas are likely to see thundershowers towards the north by Saturday night along with strong winds and high seas.

Friday, there is a weak chance of light rain in the country, the weather report states. Also, relatively hot daytime conditions are expected on Friday along with slight dust and scattered clouds. Mild conditions will prevail by night.

The forecast for offshore areas says partly cloudy conditions are likely on Friday and there is a possibility of light rain by the afternoon.

Thunderstorms and rain of varied intensity were recorded from Doha and other parts of the country over the previous weekend, especially last Saturday (April 13). The skies cleared after that.

Meanwhile, the temperature has also crept up over the last few days – touching the 40C-mark in some places.

The maximum temperature is expected to be 41C on Friday in Abu Samra, followed by 38C in Doha, 36C in Al Khor, Dukhan and Ruwais, and 35C in Wakrah and Mesaieed. The minimum, on the other hand, will range from 20C in Abu Samra to 25C in Doha, Wakrah and other places.

Thursday, the maximum temperature was 41C in Abu Samra, 39C in Sheehaniyah, Batna and other places, and 38C in Doha, Abu Hamour, etc. The minimum was 20C in Abu Samra and 23C in Doha.
