The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a temporary closure from Thursday to the end of October on a part of Jeryan Nejaima Street in both directions from its intersection with Awjab Al Dakhla Street to its intersection with Al Tarfa Street.
The closure initiated in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic is to allow development works of Al Tarfa Intersection.
During the period of closure, eastbound traffic on Al Tarfa Street to Jeryan Nejaima Street will have to turn right into Umm Al Megareen Street, then left to Awjab Al Dakhla Street and then reach Jeryan Nejaima Street. Road users heading from Jeryan Nejaima Street to Al Tarfa Street have been told to turn left into Awjab Al Dakhla Street, then right to Umm Al Megareen Street and to Al Tarfa Street as shown on the map.
The development works of Al Tarfa Intersection are aimed at increasing the intersection’s capacity through providing additional lanes as well as improving the street lighting, upgrading the stormwater and treated sewage effluent networks, installing interlock, landscaping and protecting Ooredoo and Kahramaa lines under the roads.
In order to minimise the impact of construction works on traffic movement on Al Tarfa Street, Ashghal will later close only one lane of the street at each stage of construction within the project after co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists about the closure and requested them to abide by the speed limit, and follow the road signs to ensure safety.
