The General Authority of Customs has participated in the 50th Regional Meeting of Customs Managers in North Africa, Near East and Middle East, and took part in the 133rd and 134th meetings of the Customs Co-operation Council (CCC) held in Brussels, Belgium, from 26 to 29 June.
The Authority was represented at the meeting by a delegation headed by HE the Chairman of General Authority of Customs, Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Jamal.
The regional meeting discussed several topics, most notably the report of the 81st Session of the Committee on Public Policies and the report on membership of the Region in WCO committees, as well as the discussion of the use of additional languages, besides the report of the Regional Office for Capacity Building, the Electronic Tracking of Cargo and Merchandise and exchange of certificates of origin electronically, and other topics on the agenda.
The 133rd and 134th meetings discussed CCC, policy issues and revised some amendments in the Coordinated System, besides data analysis and governance issues as well as visual presentations by candidates for the position of Chair of the Capacity Building Programme.
It is worth mentioning that the importance of these meetings stems from the fact that they come out with recommendations aimed at enhancing co-operation and mutual co-ordination between the countries of the region in all customs fields and in conformity with the standards of the World Customs Organisation.
