The Lego festival at Doha Festival City (DHFC) continues to attract a large number of families and children, especially during the weekends, providing them with educational and fun-filled games and activities. Many parents were also seen participating and playing with their children at the festival’s four different zones spread across the mall.

“Since our opening in July, all the Lego zones areas are always full of visitors and even adults (both dads and moms in particular) are enjoying these activities. They build their own objects using the Lego bricks with their kids,” a festival staffer told Gulf Times. Most participants usually stay longer at these zones, which hosts an array of ‘edutainment’ activities for all ages. “I see it as one of the best bonding for families,” she said.
The activation, which opened on July 30 and will run until September 17, has been designed to give Qatar residents and visitors a challenging but fun experience in “a caring environment.” “My children are having a great time at the Lego festival. It’s a good educational experience in a fun and entertaining way,” said Indian expatriate Danuka, who was with his two children at DHFC.
“Another important thing about the activities is that they also give children the opportunity to explore their creative side. They build and then design different objects such as cars, houses, buildings, and other structures they can think of,” he noted. “They always stay and spend more time trying to figure out how they will make it beautiful and attractive using all the available Lego bricks.”
“It’s very interesting and stimulates our mind, which I believe is good for children’s development,” Danuka added, hoping that similar activities will be organised in Doha frequently.
One of the favourite zones is the Lego Technic + Architecture, located at the mall’s Centre Court and designed for 'experienced builders'. After assembling their Lego cars, they can race with other participants in a dedicated track. The Lego Friends Zone, located at mall’s atrium node (ground floor), gives families and children the opportunity to meet and greet, as well as take "selfies" or "groupies" with five exploring, creative, funny and quirky characters: Andrea, Emma, Mia, Olivia and Stephanie.
The Lego Duplo activity, also at the Centre Court (ground floor), is designed for young children, allowing them to play and at the same time learn through various activities such as building tables, pits, and a Duplo train. Meanwhile, the Lego Jungle activity (Centre Court, first floor) serves as a unique attraction for all ages, featuring a Lego zoo – filled with life-size forms of animals such as tiger, elephant, gorilla, parrot, monkey, and crocodile.
At DHFC’s entertainment node, children get “to test their abilities to tame the Dragons and become a master”. The Lego Ninjago zone gives adventurous participants the opportunity to enhance their skills in a special training at a dojo as they prepare for Dragon challenges.
