*Sediq's tweet exposes propaganda media platforms backed by countries currently blockading Qatar: Lolwah Alkhater

Sediq Seddiqi, Spokesperson for the Afghanistan President, has rubbished reports carried by Saudi-owned media outlets Al Arabiya and Asharq al-Awsat as “reckless journalism, totally incorrect and baseless”.
Referring to the reports that blamed Qatar for the cancellation of the US-Taliban summit, Seddiqi tweeted that the quotes attributed to his name by Al Arabiya and Asharq al-Awsat were totally wrong. “I never said these things in my press conference yesterday. All of them are strongly rejected,” the tweet said.
In a later tweet he said: “The government of Afghanistan praises the earnest efforts of its allies and is committed to working together with the United States and other partners to ensure honourable and enduring peace in the country.”
The Spokesperson of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, HE Lolwah Alkhater, said: “The Spokersperson for the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan exposes the propaganda media platforms backed by countries currently blockading Qatar. Qatar remains an impartial mediator in the US-Taliban talks and a friend to the Republic and People of Afghanistan.”
The United States and Afghanistan's Taliban have both left the door open to fresh talks after President Donald Trump on Sunday abruptly cancelled a secret summit.
Washington also said it would not relent in fighting the militants after Trump blamed the scuttling of the unprecedented meeting on a Taliban attack that killed a US soldier.
Trump said he had invited Taliban leaders and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani for talks on Sunday at the Camp David presidential retreat on a draft deal that would see the United States withdraw thousands of troops and wind down its longest-ever war.
In a series of television interviews, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did not rule out a return to talks but said the United States needed a "significant commitment" from the Taliban.
