Qatar University (QU) has signed an agreement with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) to strengthen and promote their scientific, research, administrative and technical co-operation.
The agreement was signed by QU President Dr Hassan al-Derham and Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) President Abdullah bin Nasser Turki al-Subaey. 
The agreement aims to enhance scientific, research, administrative and technical co-operation between the two sides, exchange of experiences, studies, research and statistics, as well as joint organisation of conferences, meetings, training programmes and other areas of common interest.
Al-Derham said the university welcomes the promotion of the cooperation with QCAA and praised the great successes the authority achieved in the aviation field on various levels. 
He added that the university is aware of the great development witnessed by the civil aviation sector and the impact of the industrial revolution on this sector. 
Abdullah bin Nasser Turki al-Subaey praised the agreement with QU, saying that the authority has a lot of information and statistics that require constructive co-operation with the university, which reflects positively on the aviation sector, safety of navigation, statistics and weather and climate forecasts, air traffic registration and issues related to people working in this field.
He stressed the authority’s interest in the environmental aspect, which could form the nucleus of co-operation with QU in this area. He called on the university to actively contribute to the first edition of future generations in the professional field of civil aviation conference which will be held in February. 
He also touched on the Qatar Meteorology Department and its great role in serving the country and the great possibilities it possesses to increase the accuracy of the information provided to State authorities and partners concerned with its services and prospects for co-operation with the university in this regard.
