Katara - the Cultural Village signed yesterday a memorandum of co-operation (MoC) with Qatar Society of Petroleum Engineers (QSPE) to use facilities of Katara to hold cultural events, courses, training seminars and exhibitions, and to encourage young people to work in this sector.
In his remarks during a press conference, Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said that the new partnership with the QSPE seeks to attract young people to engage in petroleum engineering, strengthen the capabilities of Qatari engineers and raise their scientific competence in various fields, by providing them with the optimal atmosphere of education and training through series of lectures and seminars that will be held by the QSPE in Katara’s halls and theaters.
Al- Sulaiti expressed his hope that the partnership will contribute to furthering the process of engineering development and attract Qatari engineers to these activities to keep up with the latest technological and scientific developments in petroleum engineering in all its branches, stressing that Katara always seeks to develop the skills of Qatari youth in order to have a prominent and pivotal role in the process of development and renaissance.
QSPE chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani said that the agreement allows the organisation of cultural and technical activities and events at Katara aimed at raising the technical level of engineers working in the oil and gas industry in Qatar. 
He pointed out that the agreement benefits more than 1,000 members of the oil and gas engineers in Qatar, who are the members of the QSPE.
HE Sheikh Faisal also praised the new partnership between Katara and the QSPE. (QNA)
