Katara - the Cultural Village hosted yesterday the book launch of HE the Minister of State Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari. 
The event was attended by a number of ministers, Arab and foreign ambassadors and 
intellectuals. 
During the book launch, Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti conferred on HE Dr al-Kuwari the Katara Excellence Shield 2019, in appreciation of his efforts and active contribution to the cultural field in Qatar and the Arab world. 
“This award is granted to HE Dr al-Kuwari due to his cultural, professional and diplomatic record in Qatar, the Arab world and the world, making him one of the most prominent men of creativity, culture, media and diplomacy in Qatar,” al-Sulaiti said, adding that Katara always appreciates cultural icons through launching several awards. 
HE Dr al-Kuwari expressed thanks to Katara, describing the tradition as remarkable in honouring the creators in Qatar. “Katara has become Qatar’s main cultural location, a well-deserved representation of Arab culture and a hub of civilisations and cultures.”
The event also saw the launch of a publication where HE Dr al-Kuwari presents the different phases of his journey in Unesco where he was a candidate for its director general position
