Turkey is anticipating growth in its furniture exports to Qatar following wide exposure of products being showcased by Turkish interior design companies participating at Index Qatar’s third edition, said ambassador Fikret Ozer, who led the event’s inauguration ceremony on Tuesday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).

The exhibition will open opportunities for Qatari buyers to meet and network with Turkish interior designers representing 15 companies, Ozer told Gulf Times on the sidelines of the event, which will run at the DECC until October 24.

After the opening ceremony, officials from Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) and dmg events Doha, the organisers of Index Qatar, visited some of the exhibitors from more than 20 countries, including Qatar, Italy, Spain, Belgium, China, Oman, France, and Lebanon.

As the strategic partner of Index Qatar 2019, QNTC endorsed the event and supported the organisers in bringing international buyers to the event and explore the opportunities offered in Qatar.

The organisers said the high-profile three-day event is dedicated to the interior design and fit-out industry, and features thousands of the latest products and solutions to meet the country’s future demand for interior products and services to complete stadia, hotels, and residential units ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The diversity of exhibits at Index Qatar gives visitors access to several highly-innovative and unique interior products and services, the organisers pointed out.

The first day of ‘Design Talks’ kicked-off on Tuesday amidst even higher than expected attendance levels, with renowned speakers from the industry. Pallavi Dean, one of the leading interior designers in the Middle East, presented ‘5 Things We Learned Building an All-Female Design Studio in The Middle East’, while Anis Benuina, design director of The Creative Union, presented ‘Making the Intangible Tangible Through Environmental Graphic Design’.

Among the other talks were ‘Fairy-Tales About Healthcare Architectural & Interior Design’. Offering a perspective from Russia, the host of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, was the topic ‘Reviewing Our Best Interior Projects from Design to Launch - Including Fresh Experience from Some of the Newest Stadiums in The World’.
