The Doha Learning Days (DLD), launched on Thursday at the Ceremonial Court of Education City, will celebrate experiential learning (involving or based on experience and observation) along with its innovations and transformations over the next five days.
Promoted as the first experiential learning festival of Qatar, DLD focuses on deconstructing existing learning frameworks and a process of re-learning to build thriving societies.
It will be attended by 900 students apart from the public who will be provided with an opportunity to feel the innovations in learning and education.
“DLD’s key focus is on recentering learning around human values. The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) team has worked closely with the stakeholders to present a programme that places the human element at the forefront of each learning experience,” said Dr Ameena Hussain, director of programmes and content at WISE while addressing the opening ceremony.
DLD is held in the run up to the WISE Summit 2019, which will be held at Qatar National Convention Centre from November 19-21, under the theme 'UnLearn, ReLearn: What it means to be Human'.

She said that the seeds of DLD were planted during a discussion hosted by WISE last year with 50 local stakeholders.
The discussions later flowered into this community initiative anchored by local collaboration.
“DLD will help students work collaboratively to tackle questions and explore issues of wellbeing and mental health. It’s aimed at bringing us all together in an exciting exploration of learning and innovation,” she said.
The DLD, being held until November 19 at the Ceremonial Court and Green Spine in Education City started with a musical performance showcasing the nation’s culture.
The opening performance featured characters developed by Qatar Foundation’s Qatar Reads, and a script narrated by ACTory and accompanied by musicians from the Qatar Music Academy Youth Orchestra.

The event brings 54 local and three international entities together to offer an array of interactive workshops, art exhibitions, film screenings, health and wellbeing masterclasses, and engaging discussions designed to generate positive change within Qatar’s community.
Visitors will have the opportunity to visit Torba Farmers Market and find out how to lead more sustainable lifestyles; discuss the importance of overcoming social taboos to create impactful businesses; become empowered by female leaders and change-makers in Qatar; improve public speaking skills and learn how to give presentations; discover how to become an entrepreneur; and navigate coding.
Mohamed al-Hashimi, senior advisor, government and public affairs, Exxon Mobil Qatar, also addressed the opening ceremony.
DLD will be open from 3 pm to 9.30 pm on Friday, from 11am to 10.30pm on Saturday and from 5pm to 10.30pm on week days.
