A noticeable drop in temperature is expected around the country in the coming days due to the influence of strong northwesterly winds, the Qatar Met department has said.

The weather report also says the chances of thundery rain are expected to continue in offshore areas on Tuesday while light and scattered rain is likely inshore.

The possibility of rain is expected to be more favourable on Wednesday in some places, especially in the northern areas, according to the department.

Fresh to strong northwesterly winds are expected from Tuesday until the beginning of next week due to the extension of a high-pressure system, causing a noticeable drop in temperature, the report states.

The minimum temperature is expected to range from 14C to 19C and drop below that in the southern areas. The maximum temperature, on the other hand, is expected to range between 20C and 23C.

The report further states that the marine warning for strong winds and high seas is expected to continue until the beginning of next week. The sea height may exceed 9ft at times during this period.

The Met department has urged people to avoid all marine activities and follow the latest updates through its social media accounts.

Doha and other parts of Qatar received moderate to heavy showers on Sunday, while rain was reported from some places on Monday, too.
