It is learnt that these metrolink services will benefit a large number of commuters who have no cars or had been previously spending more on other forms of transportation.
Many car owners also prefer to take these feeder buses/vans saying it saves them time and money, and the hassle of looking for parking slots.
Qatar residents and visitors hope that more routes will be introduced in the future to cover more areas under the Red, Gold, and Green Lines.
Metrolink is a feeder bus network providing first and last mile connectivity to Qatar Rail customers within 2 to 5km radius of Doha Metro stations.
Metro passengers also benefit from Qatar Rail’s Metroexpress service operating at West Bay, which covers West Bay QIC and DECC station areas.
According to Qatar Rail, a fleet of metrolink-branded buses and vans operate on 12 Red Line, two Green Line, and four Gold Line stations. Fare is free and they operate between Saturday and Thursday, from 6am to 11pm; and on Friday, from 2pm to 11pm.
