The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the Police College and the GCC Criminal Information Centre to Combat Drugs (GCC-CICCD), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance co-operation between the two sides in the field of research, studies, publications, and exchange of experiences related to combating illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The MoU was signed by Director General of the Police College Brigadier Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Mohanna al-Marri and the Director Criminal Information Centre For Drug Control Co-operation Council For The Arab Gulf States, Brigadier Saqr Rashid al-Muraikhi.
The Director General of the Police College said that the MoU aims to benefit from the experiences, whether on the training level or research needed by both parties, and the exchange of information and feedback through statistics and measurements prepared by the GCC Criminal Information Centre, noting that the MoU will be implemented soon.
For his part, Brigadier Saqr Rashid al-Muraikhi said that signing of the MoU with the Ministry of the Interior represented by the Police College comes within the framework of the Centre's endeavour to co-operate and co-ordinate with various regional and international security agencies, including the centres and specialised security agencies in the field of strategic studies, academic research and security training.
He said that this co-operation contributes to uniting efforts at all levels in various security fields, including combating transnational organised crime, foremost among them the crime of illegal traffic in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and related crimes.
In this view, the GCC Criminal Information Centre for Drug Control ensure to sign the MoU with the Police College, which is a pioneering security, academic and scientific edifice in the field of legal and police sciences, considering it an important step in enhancing cooperation in the academic field and training and exchange of experiences and knowledge in a way that contributes to achieving the mutual goals of both parties, Brigadier al-Muraikhi added.
