Director of Qatar University’s (QU) Centre for Advanced Materials (CAM) Dr Nasser Abdullah Alnuaimi has hosted three leading international researchers.
The guests are from the National Institute of Materials Science, an independent administrative institution and one of the largest scientific research centres in Japan and the School of Chemical Engineering, The University of Queensland, Australia, led by Prof Yusuke Yamauchi.
Prof Yamauchi is Thomson Reuters’ Highly Cited Researcher in Chemistry and Catalysis for the last three years. He received The Young Scientists’ Prize by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan in 2013 and The Chemical Society of Japan Award for Young Chemists in 2014. He and his team Dr Mohd Shahriar al-Hossain and Dr Xingtao Xu met with many researchers from QU and the industry in Qatar.
Prof Yamauchi’s visit to QU was twofold, academic and industrial. He conducted an academic talk focused on the new nanoarchitectured porous materials and its applications in energy and environment. His industry-oriented talk with Dr Xu mainly showed the latest developments achieved by his groups in the capacitive water desalination and its economics. In addition, he along with Dr al-Hossain discussed future academic and research collaboration with the dean for Graduate Studies at QU and the director of CAM.
CAM contributes heavily in allowing QU to become a distinguished research university. For almost two decades, CAM has been dedicated to providing unique excellence in the field of material technologies and has a longstanding tradition of collaborating with industry.
