The Centre for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ihsan) of Qatar Foundation for Social Action has organised Ihsan 2020 Olympics under the slogan “You Are Capable”.
The event, which was held at the Museum of Islamic Art park, drew a large number of elderly people who took part in  several activities such as “yoga, soccer, running, cycling, golf”, which aim to change the their lifestyle.
On the occasion, Director of the Internal Care Department at Ihsan Buthaina al-Marzouqi said that the centre has established an external physical recreational programme for the elderly, to encourage this group to exercise, and change the idea of the inability of the elderly.
As for the programme, al-Marzouki explained that it includes various Olympic sports, for individuals and groups, to make the elderly feel that they are able participate in different activities, pointing out that the participants in this programme are from members of Ihsan Centre and physical therapy in general.
Al-Marzouqi said many activities and programmes will be held during the coming period, including visits and participation in several events of the centre, such as the sports day which will be hosted in co-operation with the Golf Club, where an integrated sports programme will be held.
The elderly participants praised the activities.

GAC celebrates International Customs Day

The General Authority of Customs celebrates today the International Customs Day (ICD), which falls on  January 26, every year. 
On the occasion, it is organising various activities under the slogan “Customs supports the enhancement of sustainability for society and the world and the achievement of Prosperity.”
During the ceremony, the services provided by the authority to the public will be introduced, as the ceremony represents an activation of international communication, under a unified slogan that the world’s customs adopt as their annual slogan, in which their energies and capabilities are directed towards value and an important principle in customs work.
 The authority honours its expert employees who have spent 30 years in the service of the authority, graduates from customs employees who have a diploma in customs at Community College, and its customs inspectors with distinguished customs controls, in addition to partner and collaborating government and private agencies.
The ceremony will be accompanied by an exhibition displaying pictures of customs history.

QFMA holds workshop on ‘anti-money laundering rules’
Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) has held a workshop on “Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorists Rules” at its headquarters.
During the workshop, a detailed explanation was provided on the provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorists Rules issued by the QFMA pursuant to Law No (20) of 2019 on issuing Combating Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law and its Implementing Regulations issued by Council of Ministers’ decision No (41) of 2019, after publishing the final format of such rules on the QFMA’s website.
The workshop was attended by 54 participants representing the QFMA, Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE), Qatar Central Securities Depository (QCSD), financial services companies, and custodians.
The issuance of these rules comes in accordance with the decision of the QFMA’s board of directors, which reflects the QFMA’s ongoing commitment to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, in light of updating the international standards adopted by the key international organisations, including the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). - QNA

Traffic department seizes 24 vehicles in Sealine area
As part of its ongoing campaign, the Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, seized 24 vehicles in the Sealine area on Friday for serious traffic violations.
The drivers will be presented to the competent prosecution to complete the legal procedures against them, the Ministry of Interior tweeted yesterday.
“The General Directorate of Traffic urges drivers and road users to follow strictly the traffic law. Please be careful and avoid wrongdoings and behaviour that endanger the lives and property of road users,” it said.
