HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani on Thursday visited a medical isolation complex and hospital in Umm Salal and several factories manufacturing medical products in the small and medium industries zone in the Industrial Area.

The isolation complex and hospital have set up by the state as part of measures to combat the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

HE the Prime Minister was briefed on the medical capabilities and facilities of the complex and the hospital prepared for the isolation for those infected with the coronavirus.

The 12,500-bed facility is equipped with all the necessary amenities, safety, and health requirements.

HE the Prime Minister also inspected places for entertainment and meals.

He met with the staff of the complex, including doctors, nurses and volunteers, and thanked them for their efforts to combat the epidemic, and urged them to provide all possible medical and humanitarian services to help the infected.

The Prime Minister visited the Industrial Area factories to see the progress in the production of medical products to meet the local market needs.

He visited the Qatar Pharma Pharmaceutical Industries, Qatar Al-Hayat Pharmaceutical Industries and Al-Maha Medical Supplies, where he was briefed about the strategic plans including production capacities of medicines, sanitisers and masks.

The Prime Minister also inspected the laboratories, warehouses, and the workflow of the factories that seek to fulfill the need for medical supplies in the local market and to export to brotherly and friendly countries.

He praised the efforts of the factories, their managements and workers, and lauded the role played by the private sector particularly the medical field, in response to the national executive plan to counter Covid-19.
