The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Thursday announced the closure of Umm Lekhba tunnel in both directions for a distance of 2.3km for three months.
The closure in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic is to enable the construction works on Sabah Al Ahmad corridor. During the closure the service road on Al Markhiya street will remain open for local access.
Motorists have to use Al Luqta Street and Al Shamal Road to reach Al Markhiya. They will be able to use Duhail Bridge to reach Al Khafji Street from Al Gharrafa and vice-versa.
Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the closure and requested all to follow them and abide by the speed limit to ensure safety.
