The Schools Evaluation Department in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's (MoEHE) Evaluation Affairs Sector today held a virtual meeting over Microsoft Teams with representatives of 150 private schools operating in Qatar.

The meeting introduced the private schools to the most recent evaluation updates for national and international accreditation, as well as private schools' responsibility to promote the national identity.

The new updates will be an instrumental factor in the evaluation processes (preschools, mandatory evaluation and national school accreditation) during the current academic year of 2020/21, the MoEHE has said in a report.

The meeting featured presentations made by Mona Mohamed al-Kuwari, Schools Evaluation Department manager; Nora Taher, Private School section head; and Nihad Ahmed, evaluation and accreditation consultant.

The speakers elaborated on the standards that were incorporated in the guidelines for mandatory evaluation and guidelines for national school accreditation in order to measure the private schools’ commitment to promoting the national identity. The requirements for national and international accreditation were also introduced.

The meeting saw "great interaction" from the school representatives, who raised a number of questions about the evaluation procedures and mechanism under the blended learning approach, the report added. Other questions were asked about preparing self-studies and school accreditation in general.
