HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani on Thursday inaugurated the Unified Operations Centre of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), which will be concerned with monitoring events, crises and disasters and respond quickly in co-ordination with governmental and non-governmental agencies. The Prime Minister was briefed on the centre's control room, and he reviewed its working mechanism and the services it provides. The inauguration was attended by HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, and ministry officials. The MME said that establishing a unified operations centre aims to improve services provided to individuals and society, and to respond faster to emergencies. Project manager Hamad Ahmed al-Hassan al-Mohannadi said the centre set up was in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 that aims to establish a modern State. He said the project took six months to complete. Al-Mohannadi said the centre will focus on managing emergency crises and will ensure work flow is uninterrupted. It will also improve co-ordination between different sectors and administrations.
