Turkish security authorities arrested on Friday 16 foreigners in the northern state of Samsun, on charges of belonging to ISIS.

The 16 detainees were 15 Iraqis and a Syrian, who were active members of ISIS, and were arrested by the anti-terror teams during simultaneous raids on the addresses of wanted persons in Samsun, Turkish security sources said.

The sources revealed that, during the operation, the security teams confiscated digital materials they found in the places of residence of the accused, containing information about the organisation's plans in this area of Turkish territory.

The operation comes one day after the Turkish authorities arrested four foreigners on suspicion of belonging to ISIS in the western state of Kutahya.

In recent weeks, the Turkish authorities have intensified their campaigns to pursue the banned organization's members hiding in Turkey. (QNA)
