A cold spell is expected in the country from the beginning of next week, coinciding with the 'AlMerbania' season, the Qatar Met department has said.
The temperature may drop to below 13C in some places during this period, according to a report issued by the weather office on Thursday.
The report states that the cloud amount is expected to gradually increase at the beginning of next week and there is a chance of scattered rain in some places.
"Weather maps indicate that the country's atmosphere will be affected by a cold spell from the beginning of next week with a noticeable drop in temperature, coinciding with the beginning of the 'AlMerbania' season as a result of fresh to strong northwesterly winds over most areas from Sunday evening until the end of next week. The minimum temperature is expected to drop to below 13C in the southern and external regions," the report continues.
Meanwhile, today's forecast says strong winds and high seas are expected in offshore areas towards the north. The wind speed may go up to 26 knots in these places, with the sea level rising to 8ft.
Inshore, low visibility is expected in some places in the early hours of the day, followed by moderate daytime temperature and some clouds.
The temperature is expected to range from 22-30C in Doha today.
