Jaber Rashid al-Amri emerged victorious in the Medium Tour during the fifth round of the Longines Qatar Equestrian Tour Hathab supported by The Social & Sport Contribution Fund.
At the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s indoor arena yesterday, al-Amri was a comprehensive winner in the 130cm class as he led 12-year-old grey stallion Canavaro De Muze (E.T.) to fastest time. The pair finished their round in 45.80 seconds as al-Amri walked away with QR7,500 in prize money.
Ghanim Nasser al-Qadi was a distant second with eight-year-old mare Jazz De Semilly K Z (Dupli), with the pair coming home in 48.84 secs. Experienced rider Faleh Suwead al-Ajami had to be content with third place after he clocked 49.66 secs with ten-year-old mare Ambre de Beaufour. 
The Medium Tour Team winners were ExxonMobil, after Cyrine Cherif and Khalid Mohamed al-Emadi combined for a total time of 107.33 seconds. 
Team QAF was second, which had Mohamed Abdulla Juma, Hamad Ali al-Attiyah and Salman Mohamed al-Emadi in its roster. The Limited Edition Cars team, consisting of Mohamed Khalifa Albaker and Mohamed Saeed Haidan, finished third. 
Earlier, the Small Tour was won by Khalifa Abdulla al-Khaldi astride his trusted 17-year-old mare Dusty. The winning pair aced the jump off in a time of 25.06 seconds. Hamad Nasser al-Qadi finished second with Gibria-B, while Saeed Nasser al-Qadi and Best Of Des Forets came home third. 
Meanwhile, Abdullah Mohamed al-Mari, director of the Future Riders School and the national teams, said the Hathab was one of the best local tournaments in the region. 
Al-Mari said: “Hathab’s success is due to the organising committee’s keenness to conduct the championship despite the prevailing pandemic situation. In addition, the popular event is supported and funded by national companies and institutions under the group of The Social & Sport Contribution Fund. The number of riders in all categories has increased, especially the Future Riders, which has seen number of talented riders coming through.”
