As Qatar prepares to host the FIFA Club World Cup from Thursday  until February 11, the Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Tuesday said it has completed preparations for the event.

The details of the security preparations were given on the SSOC's Twitter account on Tuesday.

"All the units of the committee are ready to perform the tasks entrusted to them to secure the tournament and guarantee the safety of all participants and fans," said Major-General Abdulaziz al-Ansari, chairman of the SSOC.

The SSOC is providing the necessary security at all facilities, starting from the teams' arrival at the airport and while they are on their way to the hotels and also at training venues and stadiums, he said.

Major-General al-Ansari confirmed that the SSOC had made high-level contacts with the authorities concerned at FIFA and in the countries whose teams are participating in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020 to ensure security arrangements for the teams, fans, sports missions and the media.

He pointed out that the committee's various units possess sufficient experience to perform their tasks in the required manner as they have received various kinds of training and attended many workshops.

"Many of them have already contributed to the security coverage of several sporting events hosted by the State during the last period," he said.

This championship will provide further experience to the security cadres, he added.

There is excellent co-operation with the competent authorities at FIFA and the authorities concerned in the country, especially in the light of the medical procedures followed by the Ministry of Public Health, which aim to ensure everyone's safety, the committee said in a tweet.

"The success achieved in previous tournaments and sporting events held in Qatar will continue in FIFA Club World Cup and all upcoming tournaments leading up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022," noted Major-General al-Ansari.

Lieutenant-Colonel Khalifa Shaheen al-Dossari, the tournament's security commander, said all units of the committee are fully prepared for the FIFA Club World Cup, which starts at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium on Thursday.

"The security arrangements are proceeding according to the set plan in the light of the coronavirus pandemic while applying the medical protocol for the tournament," he said.

He pointed out that the Non-Competitive Facilities Unit's role, which is responsible for securing missions during their arrival at the airport and during their stay at the residence, has increased.

"The committee's work plan ensures smooth flow of the public while providing them with all security services in accordance with the best international standards," he said.

The security commander of the tournament also explained the plans to secure the two venues - Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium and Education City Stadium.

"The security plans have been drawn up in line with FIFA's security requirements to secure the stadiums from inside and outside and facilitate the entry and exit of fans and players and maintain their security and safety," he said.

He highlighted that the security personnel are well-trained to maintain smooth movement in and out of the stadiums. "There are security personnel and volunteers to provide assistance to fans in reaching their seats inside the stadiums," he added.

Lieutenant-Colonel al-Dossari pointed out that the Civil Defence authorities have tested and confirmed all safety measures inside the stadiums, taking into account all FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 championship standards, including an evacuation plan during an emergency.
