Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH) announced the discharge of a 65-year-old Qatari National after recovery from Covid-19.

The patient had been suffering from severe complications due to his Covid-19 infection for which he has stayed in hospital as an inpatient since September 2020.

The patient, who had been complaining of pulmonary arterial blood pressure, was admitted to Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital after being diagnosed with acute pneumonia due to Covid-19. His condition deteriorated until it reached lung fibrosis, acute respiratory failure and complete liver function disorders.

Mr. Hussein Al Ishaq, Executive Director of HMGH, underlined that the patient had to be put on ventilators in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a long period. After that his condition started to improve. He started to move his limbs and consciously communicate with the medical team. Then his condition became stable. After that he was transferred to complete his rehabilitation, physiotherapy and occupational therapy at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute.

 

Mr. Al Ishaq added that the recovery of this patient is a good example of the high quality of intensive healthcare provided by our medical teams (physicians, nurses and specialists), led by Dr. Mohamed Al-Khatib, for Covid-19 patients. This occurs within the framework of the huge efforts exerted by our Corporation to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, within an integrated treatment system under the supervision of HE Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health.

The family of the recovered patient praised the management of Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital as well as all the medical and technical staff of the hospital who exerted optimal efforts to secure high quality healthcare service for the patient.
