* Marine warning from tonight until start of next week

Strong winds are expected in the country on Thursday along with dusty conditions at times poor visibility due to misty/foggy conditions in the early hours of the day, the weather forecast shows.

The Qatar Met department has also warned that thundery rain is expected in offshore areas along with strong winds and high seas by tonight.

In a report on Wednesday, the department said it will be misty to foggy in some places at first, followed by moderate temperature during the daytime. Dusty conditions are expected at times and it will also be partly cloudy with a chance of rain, the forecast states.

Scattered clouds are likely offshore with the conditions becoming dusty at times, according to the department. Cloudy conditions are also expected and there is a chance of rain late at night, which may become thundery.

The wind speed may go up to 30 knots inshore and 33 knots offshore on Thursday, with the sea level rising to 11ft by night.

The temperature is expected to range from 19-30C in Doha on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Met department has also issued a marine warning, from tonight until the beginning of next week.

In a post on social media on Wednesday, the department said the marine warning is for strong winds and high waves. There are chances of scattered rain, which may be thundery at times, especially on Thursday and Friday.

The marine warning is expected to continue until the beginning of next week, with northwesterly winds blowing at 18-25 knots and gusting to 30 knots in some places at times. The wave height is expected to range from 5-8ft, rising to 11ft in certain areas.

"Please be careful and avoid all marine activities during the warning period," the Met department said.
