Toastmasters International Area 11 under Division C, District 116 concluded its virtual annual conference with speech contests in four categories - Humorous, Table topics, Evaluation and International, on Zoom platform. First and second place winners from participating clubs Smedley Toastmasters, Global Toastmasters and VIP Toastmasters speech contests competed in each category.
The winner of the International Speech category has a chance to reach the World Championship of Public Speaking in August 2021, if he/she continues the winning streak through the subsequent levels of division, district and regional annual contests. Winners of other categories can only reach to the district level.
The contests were conducted by the Area 11 conference committee led by director Asokan Karuvan Kandy and a team comprising members from participating clubs. District director Thayalan K, district PQD Manzoor Moideen and division director Vimal Raj were present.
Lornalyn Tallod was the master of ceremony. Contest chairs Singaraju, Gopikrishnan M K, Nijana and Jothinathan conducted each category of speech contests. The four panels of judges were led by Anita Samanta, Asha Shiju, Yoosaf Vannarath and Philip Cheriyan. Sheeba Asokan, Giridhar, Ranish K T and Gopikrishnan K S facilitated the conference in various roles.
Zoom host and chief sergeant at arms Rajiv Kumar welcomed the gathering and contest manager Lyn proposed a vote of thanks.
Sreejisha Sreedharan of Smedley Toastmasters club stood first in Humorous, Evaluation and International and second in Table Topics. Aneesh Ahammed from Global Toastmasters club was first in Table Topics and second in Evaluation. Suresh Kumar of Global and Karthick Govind Raj from VIP Toastmasters were second in Humorous and International, respectively.
Priyanka Vinod Kavle from Smedley was third in Humorous and International.
Third place winner for Table Topics was Asafali Mohamed Padiyath (Global) and for Evaluation Amit Joshi (Smedley).
First and second place winners of each category shall represent Area 11 in Division C Annual Speech Contest (TAC-C), scheduled on April 9.
