With an objective to equip teachers with the latest pedagogical methods and the skills to acquire for effective and successful teaching-learning process, MES Indian School, recently organised weeklong orientation sessions in the virtual mode on the theme of ‘Empowered Teachers Empower Students’.
The session began with a keynote address by Principal Hameeda Kadar, which was followed by her presentation on ‘Conceptual Learning and 21st Century Skills for Teachers’. The sessions were carried out by strictly adhering to Covid-19 protocols and other precautionary measures.
Annamma Shammy, Head of Girls’ Section; Mohammad Illias, Head of Boys’ Section officiating; and Uzma Fatimee, Head of Junior Section officiating; oriented the teachers on the topic ‘Strategies to Improve Academics,’ in their respective sections. Lalitha Srinivas, Head of KG Section, presented a session on ‘Active Learning’. Shana Shameer, Head of Academic Inspection, conducted a session on ‘How to Make Online Classes Interesting?’ for the teachers of Junior Section.
The topics covered by the teaching faculty during the orientation sessions were: ‘Art Integration for All the Subjects’ by Fency Pathrose, Fahira Manas, Shalini Joseph and Sunu Shaji; ‘Early Identification of Slow Learners’ by Jisha A G (Student Counsellor); ‘Learning Styles’ by Sibi Daniel; ‘Classroom Management Styles and Strategies’ by Jency George; ‘Effective Communication Skills’ by Rameesh Fathima and D A S Rex; ‘How to Make Power Point Slides’ by Thaha Thajudeen; ‘ERP Training’ by Haroon Muhammed V P and Ankush Kumar; ‘Experiential Learning’ by Fiona Mary D’ Cruz; ‘Quality and Value Education’ by Shiney Suresh; ‘Health Issues among Children’ and ‘Covid-19 Precautions and Protocols’ by Gincy Wilson, Praseela Augustine and Shiju Sebastian from Welfare Department; ‘E-learning Tools and Techniques of Online Classes’ by Arya Joseph, Jaisheeba, Hiba Ayshabi and Nizam Ahmed; ‘Discipline in Classrooms’ by Akbar Ali, Mohammed Asadullah and Shani G R; ‘Differential Learning’ by Leena John; ‘Qatar History Lesson Plan and Activities’ by Rani Nilofer; ‘Stimulating Classroom Environment’ by Resmi Ajith and Jamsheera; ‘Using Technology Effectively in the Classroom’ by Mahalakshmi R, Jamsheera Nishab and Sahana Anish; and ‘School Rules, Regulations and Policies’ by Syedda Umme Salma.
The sessions also covered a workout session by Akbar Ali, Nazanin Nadaf and Shikha Rana. Besides fulfilling the objectives, the orientation has also brought out the inherent talents of teachers and instilled confidence among the viewers. Jency George (Boys’ Section), Shiney Suresh (Girls’ Section), Khadeeja Beevy Abdullah (Junior Section), Mahalakshmi and Jesna Siju (Kindergarten) were the in-charge teachers for the orientation. All the resource persons and teachers were also presented with certificates.
