DPS-Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) debaters namely, Prithwiraj Purkait, Daiwik Dhar, Mehull Girdhar, Govind Krishna, Krish Nagrani, Antara Shailesh Alurkar, Geetika Yalamanchili, Vaidehi Rogiye, Anah Merchant, Drishti Tibrewal, Asin Ashraf Ayinikunnan along with their coach Jaya Majumder recently participated in a workshop titled ‘First Things First: Prime Minister’ conducted by Qatar Debate via Zoom platform.
The resource person Amanda Chan from Malaysia briefed the attendees about the different roles of the first speaker, interpretation of a motion, contextualisation, and case building. The workshop, divided into different sections, highlighted the different strategies and various techniques needed to build a case, analyse the issue in the status quo and come up with a solution to strengthen the team’s point of view. A number of team building and interactive exercises ranging from case building to structural development of the first speaker’s speech made the session engaging and interesting.
