Qatar Charity launches ‘5%’ to support low-income families and students in Ramadan

Qatar Charity (QC) has launched the ‘5%’ programme to create and restore hope to low-income families and students in Qatar during the holy month of Ramadan.
The concept of the programme is that organisations, companies and shops can support it by donating 5% of their profits for one month only.
The donations will then be allocated for the benefit of low-income families and primary, preparatory and secondary school students.
The initiative comes amid the continued coronavirus pandemic that has affected the economic conditions of families, many of whom became unable to cover school fees for their children, QC has said in a statement.
The programme aims to promote the right to education for students in schools, provide families with the necessary foodstuffs, and join hands to confront the economic implications of the pandemic on families with limited income and students in Qatar, the statement notes.
The director of Programmes and Community Development at Qatar Charity, Jassem Mohamed al-Emadi, said the programme contributes to preserving the cohesion of families affected by the pandemic and providing education for their children within Qatar.
Al-Emadi urged all organisations, companies and shops to participate in this programme, indicating that QC is working on studying the cases of families with limited income and students, counting the number of families affected by the pandemic, and verifying that the cases meet the requirements of social research to benefit from the financial aid provided during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
