With an objective of promoting environmental awareness and to sensitise students on the need for protecting the planet, MES Indian School commemorated ‘The Earth Day' under the theme ‘Together, We Can Restore Our Earth’.
A special assembly was held virtually to celebrate the day, wherein students gave speeches in their respective classes followed by a pledge to preserve and conserve the self-sustaining planet.
Students of KG-I to grade-XII participated in various activities organised by the Campus Care Force during the 6th and 7th periods.
‘Be a Designer’ (painting) activity was organised for kindergarten kids.
‘Poster Designing’ for classes I-IV, ‘Best out of Waste’ for classes V-VIII and ‘Collage Making’ for classes IX and X provided students a platform to showcase their artistic and creative skills.
The students made products like wall hangings, cards, pen stands, bags, paper box, flowers and even beautiful dresses.
A ‘Be a Reporter’ activity (Power-Point presentation) gave students of classes XI and XII an opportunity to play the role of young environment reporters and the "inquisitive journalists" compiled interesting reports in the form of Power-Point on various environmental issues like adverse effects of rampant construction activities, cutting down of trees, pollution, destruction of forest, extinction of wildlife etc.
Virtual certificates were awarded to encourage the students for their participation.
Hameeda Kadar, MES principal, appreciated the efforts of the students and urged them to be grateful to Mother Earth for all its bountiful gifts in the form of flora, fauna and landscapes.
The teachers-in-charge of the day’s event were; Jency George, Celci Sebastian, Sumayyabi Shanuj, Sibby Shaji, and Nisha George.
