Two-hundred oxygen cylinders and 43 oxygen concentrators are being shipped from Qatar to India aboard Indian Navy ship 'INS Kolkata' to support India's efforts to deal with the surge in Covid-19 cases there and meet the demand for medical oxygen.
The cylinders and concentrators have been provided through the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF).
"We thank the Indian community in Qatar for their generous contribution through ICBF. 200 O2 cylinders and 43 O2 concentrators to be shipped by INS Kolkata today to India. Miles apart yet part of India's fight against Covid," the Indian embassy in Doha tweeted on Monday.
The Indian Navy has launched ‘Operation Samudra Setu-II’ to meet the country’s oxygen requirements amid the surge in Covid-19 cases. As part of this initiative, the navy has deployed seven ships - 'INS Kolkata, Kochi, Talwar, Tabar, Trikand, Jalashwa and Airavat' for shipment of oxygen-filled cryogenic containers and associated medical equipment from various countries.
