To raise the overall standard of recitation among Islamic students, to encourage them memorise the Holy Qur’an and to increase their acquaintance with the holy book, the department of Arabic & Islamic studies at MES Indian School recently organised a virtual intra-school competitions in Islamic quiz, Qur’an recitation and memorisation.
The competitions were conducted in three categories: sub-junior, junior and seniors for both boys and girls.
Around 500 students from class I to class XII participated in the competitions.
The topics for the quiz competitions were – 'The Holy Qur’an', ‘Ramadan’ and ‘Culture & Civilisation of Qatar.’ For the Holy Qur’an competition ‘part 30’ for sub-juniors, ‘part 28 & 29’ for juniors and ‘Surah Yaseen, Al Kahf, Al Mu’minoon Sajada and Al Furqan’ for seniors were the topics.
In the sub-junior-1 Qur’an memorisation category, Fathima Abdul Gafoor secured the first position, Saad Muaaz and Abdullah Hassan Miya Tandal shared the second position, and Manha Mariam stood third.
In the sub-junior 1 Qur’an recitation category, Manha Mariam, Nimra Fathima and Abdullah Hassan Miya Tandal secured the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the sub-junior 2 Qur’an memorisation category, Minnah Nowshad, Daniya Farooqui and Ahmed Sajid won the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the sub-junior-2 Qur’an recitation category Aasim Ismayil, Minnah Nowshad and Abdullah Mohamed Sajid clinched the first, second and third place respectively.
In the junior category for Qur’an memorisation, Mohamed Patel, Zainab Mohamed Rafi and AmanIskander secured the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the senior Qur’an memorisation contest, Durra Mohamed Rafi secured the first position followed by Fathima Hiba and Amatun Noor second and third.
The school principal congratulated the winners for their achievements.
Usman Mayyeri, head of Arabic and Islamic Studies, co-ordinated the competitions along with members of the faculty.
