Al Meera Consumer Goods Company has announced its acquisition of two properties from Qatari Diar where the retailer has set sights to launch Al Meera Lifestyle Community Malls.
The properties, located in Lusail’s Fox Hills District and North Residential Villas District, will serve the surrounding neighbourhoods and visitors to Lusail, adding to Al Meera’s extensive network of 59 branches across Qatar.
This move comes in line with Al Meera’s "ambitious expansion strategy, which aims to bring the retailer’s exceptional services to localities around the country", the company has said in a statement.

Fox Hills

Plans are under way to launch operations in Fox Hills District branch this year, while operations for the North Residential Villas District will commence the following year.
The built-up area of Al Meera Lifestyle Community Malls in Fox Hills District and North Residential Villas District is approximately 8,600sqm and 3,800sqm, respectively.
These two new malls will each house an Al Meera supermarket, which will carry an array of fresh produce and an assortment of sought-after consumer goods to provide customers and visitors with all their daily needs, the statement notes.
The supermarket will be fitted out with the latest Al Meera signature design concept and colours to give the store a unique and modern visual look and feel in line with the retailer’s continuous efforts in enhancing the customers’ shopping experience.
In addition to the Al Meera supermarket, the remaining retail space in each mall will be leased out to a mix of restaurants, cafes, fast food chains, services and spaces for other retail outlets, which will together serve the neighbouring community and visitors to Lusail City.
The Fox Hills District Mall will bring to the neighbourhood 15 retail units, in addition to other retail offerings, while the North Residential District Mall will also offer Al Meera shoppers and mall visitors over 12 retail units.
The combination of Al Meera supermarket and retail outlets will give customers access to a wide range of extensive product offerings, numerous essential services and eateries, while they are out shopping for their daily needs, offering a complete shopping experience that caters to their needs beyond groceries, the statement adds.
The retail outlets will showcase a mix of renowned local and international brands that will be aligned with the districts' demographics and will cater to the needs of the multicultural communities living in Lusail and visitors from the northern areas of Qatar who now have easy access to Lusail City via the new express highway.
Commenting on the purchase of these new community malls in Lusail City, Al Meera said: “We are excited to share that we are bringing Al Meera lifestyle Community Malls to Lusail, a fast-growing and rapidly developing city that is on the verge of becoming Qatar's next popular destination for tourists and residents alike. Al Meera is delighted to be part of this futuristic city, which is set to become one of the largest smart cities in the world.
“Residents and visitors can look forward to Al Meera’s seamless shopping experience and wide range of high-quality products as well as access to other commercial outlets at the Al Meera smart mall design. We are proud to bring Al Meera to yet another area in Qatar in line with the urban development the country continues to experience, which also falls in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
True to its mission to be present in every neighbourhood, Al Meera continues to follow an extensive expansion plan that targets economically viable locations as well as underserved areas in Qatar where the community deserves a retail service.
The retail giant recently inaugurated two new branches in Jeryan Jenaihat and Al Asmakh Mall, with plans under way to establish more this year. The retail chain is working in close co-ordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to further contribute to the development and urbanisation across districts and territories in Qatar as the country’s national retailer.
